1st Annual Multi-Jurisdictional Explorer Academy


You’re invited to join us for the 1st Annual Multi-Jurisdictional Explorer Academy this summer!

  • Week 1: July 9th-11th
  • Week 2: July 16th-18th
  • Week 3: July 23rd-25th

Time: 9am-3:30pm

Special Event and Graduation: July 26 9am-1pm

The Pinellas Park Police Department, St. Petersburg Police Department, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and the Gulfport Police Department are hosting a three -week-long
exciting and educational experience for the youth of Pinellas County. The academy offers our youth an insider’s look into how Police Officers perform their law enforcement duties and their service to the community.
Training to include:

  • Communications
  • Ethics
  • Traffic Control
  • Defensive Tactics
  • Forensics and Crime Scene
  • Weapons Familiarization
  • Investigations
  • Jail Tour
  • Building Clearing
  • Officer Survival
  • Unknown and High Risk Traffic
  • Stops
  • DUI investigations
  • Domestic Violence Investigations
  • Officer Water Survival Techniques
  • K-9 Demo



Open to young men and women between the ages of 14-18

  • Pass a background check
  • Currently enrolled and attending high school in Fall 2013
  • Complete the application and turn in by June 26, 2013
  • Some of the training involves practical exercises and a waiver that must be signed
  • Cost $30 for academy
  • Lunch will only be provided on July 26– All other dates are the responsibility of the attendee
  • Youth will need transportation to the site for the day
  • Sites will include local police departments
